Our leaders embrace the demographic makeup of the available workforce so that DAIICHI SANKYO can be a workplace where people feel comfortable and respected and where there is equal opportunity for professional growth and advancement. An organisation committed to effectively managing workplace diversity makes better decisions, is more competitive and leverages the best available talent to accomplish corporate goals.
Equal opportunity employment
The Company believes in treating all current and potential employees on the basis of merit, without regard to gender, sexual orientation, race, colour, religious belief, ethnicity, trade union membership, disability, marital status and family situation, age, gender reassignment or any other irrelevant or unlawful criteria or circumstances except where there is special provision in law. It is expected and required that all employees share this belief. The Company aims to treat all employees, customers, and other members of the public with whom the Company comes into contact with respect and dignity.
The Company will ensure that no individual receives unfair treatment for raising a complaint in good faith of unlawful discrimination or giving evidence about such a complaint.
The Company seeks to employ a workforce which reflects the diverse community at large because it values the individual contribution of people irrespective of sex, age, marital status, disability, sexual orientation, race, colour, ethnic or national origin.
The Company recognises its legal obligations under the Race Relations, Sex Discrimination, Equal Pay, Disability Discrimination Acts, Sexual Orientation and Religious Belief Regulations and will treat employees, customers and members of the public with whom it comes into contact in a manner which is consistent with the spirit of these Acts.
All applicants for employment and all employees applying for alternative positions within the Company shall be assessed according to their skills, experience, and suitability to do the job.
Job advertisements will be non-discriminatory. Similarly, wherever possible the publications in which advertisements are placed will be selected to target a full spectrum of potential job applicants.
Equal consideration will be given to all employees for skills and career development. Attitude and capability are the determining factors.
Application of the Policy
This policy applies to all the Company’s employees, irrespective of seniority, and to all applicants for employment with the Company.
If this policy of Equal Opportunities is not applied, valuable talent and potential may be wasted. Discrimination, harassment, and victimisation are not only illegal, but also affect morale and profitability generally, and can bring about a climate of fear, insecurity, and poor work performance. It is therefore vital that employees understand their responsibilities.
The Company takes Equal Opportunities very seriously and will not tolerate acts which breach this policy. It is an employee’s responsibility to ensure their conduct conforms with the expected standards and reflects this policy. Wilful failure to apply the policy or evidence of discrimination, harassment, or victimisation may result in disciplinary action being taken against an employee, and in serious cases, dismissal.
If an employee feels that the Policy has not been applied in their case, they may prefer to discuss the matter informally in the first instance with their Manager. All employees are of course entitled to raise a formal complaint at any time and in such circumstances they are asked to use the Company's Grievance Resolution Procedure.
